Biografia:
A jam band Big Wu foi formada no campus do St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota, EUA, em 1992, pelo cantor e guitarrista Chris Castino, o guitarrista Jason Fladager e o baterista Terry VanDeWalker.

Canalizando uma vasta gama de influências, incluindo bluegrass, rock, jazz, psicodelia e R&B, o grupo construiu um forte séquito de admiradores, graças a um rigoroso planejamento das suas apresentações ao vivo, adicionando o baixista Andy Miller, em 1995, e o tecladista Al Oikari um ano depois. No início de 1996, a Big Wu também conseguiu apresentar-se, semanalmente, no Terminal Bar, de Minneapolis, solidificando seu fã–clube e conseguindo lugar no H.O.R.D.E. Festival do ano seguinte.

Seu álbum de estreia, "Tracking Buffalo Through The Bathtub", apareceu naquele outono, e foi relançado pela banda no seu novo selo, Phoenix Rising, em 1999. Um ano mais tarde surgiu "Folktales" (Jason Ankeny, AllMusic; tradução livre do inglês).
