A biografia da banda, que segue, em versão livre do inglês, foi extraída do site Whammo, que cita a Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and Pop, de Ian McFarlane, edição de 1999 (sob licença de Allen & Unwin Pty Ltd).

A banda australiana Asteroid B-612 começou a tocar seu som pesado e barulhento, inspirado no rock americano de Detroit, em Sydney, por volta de 1992. Sem cair nas armadilhas de um gênero tão consolidado, a banda agregou riffs impecáveis e intensos acordes de duas guitarras ao seu estilo bluseiro bodegueiro clássico, de 12 compassos, executado de forma enxuta e agressiva, mas sem soar enfadonha ou retrógrada. Suas influências abrangem MC5, Radio Birdman e Sonic's Rendezvous Band.

Grant McIver (vocal), John Spittles (guitarra), Michael Gibbons (guitarra), Scott Nash (baixo) e Darren Pierce (bateria); eis o lineup que gravou o primeiro álbum, homônimo, da Asteroid B-612, em 1993. Em 1994, saiu o single "I've Had You", gravado em parceria com o grupo Brother Brick, também de Sydney (nota minha: o single compartilhado com a Brother Brick é "Rock Action/Crash Landing", de 1995; "I've Had You/Gimme Some Truth" foi gravado pela Asteroid B-612, sozinha). Ao término de 1994, Stewart "Leadfinger" Cunningham e Ben Fox substituíram Gibbons e Pierce, respectivamente. O compacto "I've Had You/Gimme Some Truth" foi lançado pela gravadora canadense Lance Rock, em 1995 (nota minha: ver nota anterior). 

O CD "Forced Into A Corner" chegou às lojas em 1994, antes da banda assinar com a gravadora australiana Au Go Go e então soltar, em 1995, o EP "Teen Sublimation Riffs". Cunningham largou o grupo durante uma turnê pelos Estados Unidos, compartilhada com a banda Gashuffer, no encerramento de 1996, mas participou do terceiro e melhor álbum da Asteroid B-612, "Not Meant For This World", editado em outubro do mesmo ano. Ken "Killer" Watts (ex-Valvolux) entrou no lugar de Cunningham e a banda retomou as excursões no começo de 1997. Um novo single, "September Crush", foi lançado em novembro de 1997.

No final de 1997, a Asteroid B-612 compreendia Scott Nash, Ben Fox, John Spittles e seu irmão Graham (vocal). Assim composta e acrescida de Bruce Tatham (ex-Decline Of The Reptiles) como organista convidado, a banda contribuiu com o cover de "Mirror Blues", da Died Pretty (que, nos momentos finais, desemboca em "Final Solution", da Pere Ubu), para o minialbum "Storming The Citadel Vol. 2", abrangendo cinco grupos e lançado, em 1998, pela gravadora francesa Divine Rites. 

O EP seguinte, "Different Licks For Different Chicks", emitido pela gravadora independente Ramblin' Records, em fevereiro de 1999, apresentou material gravado anteriormente, como "So Long Goodbye" e "Mirror Blues". Em 2000, sobreveio o LP "Readin’ Between The Lines", gravado no ano precedente (nota minha: no texto original, datado de 1999, diz-se apenas que o álbum ainda estava sem nome definitivo e com previsão de lançamento para 2000, o que realmente aconteceu).

Após deixar a Asteroid-B-612 em 1996, Stewart Cunningham se uniu a Ian Underwood (ex-Kryptonics) na banda Challenger 7, sem porém, abandonar seu próprio grupo, Brother Brick, cujo lineup, em 1998, abarcava Cunningham, Jay Curley (baixo; emprestado da Tumbleweed) e Craig Jackson (bateria), que foi substituído por Nick Rieth (também cedido pela Tumbleweed). A par de três singles em vinil de 7", a Brother Brick desovou seu primeiro (nota minha: e único) álbum, "A Portable Altamont", no encerramento de 1999, através da gravadora francesa Hellfire Club.

Biografia:

Este energético trio americano de hardcore (comumente intitulado fIREHOSE) foi formado por dois ex-membros da Minutemen: Mike Watt (nascido no dia 20 de março de 1957, em Portsmouth, Virgínia, EUA; vocais e contrabaixo) e George Hurley (bateria), após a morte de D. Boon, guitarrista fundador da Minutemen, em 1985. 

Ed Crawford, também conhecido como eD fROMOHIO, completou o lineup da fIREHOSE, que estreou no mercado fonográfico em 1986 com o impressionante "Ragin', Full-On". Embora inegavelmente poderoso, o material executado pela fIREHOSE era menos explícito e mais melódico, se comparado com a turbulenta Minutemen. Sucessivos discos ("If'n" e "fROMOHIO"), revelaram um grupo que, embora prejudicado pela inconsistência, era, no entanto, capaz de fazer música inventiva e emocionante. No auge, suas canções conjugavam inventivo sarcasmo (ver "For The Singer Of R.E.M.") e extravagantes composições ("Let The Drummer Have Some" contém tão somente um solo de bateria). 

Em 1989, Watt e Hurley também colaboraram com Elliott Sharp no grupo avant garde Bootstrappers. A versatilidade da banda contrastava com o mainstream, porém, mesmo assim, acabou contratada, em 1991, por uma grande gravadora (Columbia Records), que lançou, no mesmo ano, o álbum "Flyin' The Flannel", ligeiramente mais disciplinado do que seus antecessores.
