Biografia:
Após a dispersão da Stumpy Joe, vários membros da banda formaram, em 1993, o grupo power pop Glory Stompers, rapidamente renomeado como Model Rockets por causa de outro conjunto chamado Glory Stompers. O lineup inaugural incluía o guitarrista e vocalista John Ramberg, o guitarrista Grant Johnson, o baixista Boyd Remillard e o baterista Graham Black.

Depois de lançar um single em Seattle, Washington, EUA, e figurar numa compilação, a Model Rockets editou seu primeiro disco, "Hilux", pela gravadora Lucky Records, produzido por Scott McCaughey, ex-Young Fresh Fellow. Johnson deixou a banda no final de 1994 e foi substituído por Scott Sutherland, antigo membro da Chemistry Set.
